Altcoins are similar to Bitcoin (BTC), but as bitcoin mining is only profitable with expensive equipment, it’s better to mine alternative currencies.
It can be profitable to mine different currencies with your PC, if you have a gamer PC, you can make a nice profit from it!
The most profitable currency is changing, but with profit calculators, it’s easy to find out, which could be the best choice at the moment.

For example at the moment I’m mining Zcash (ZEC) with both my GPU and CPU, as it gives me the best profit, but I used to mine Ethereum (ETH) with my GPU and Monero (XMR) with my CPU a month ago, as they were the best by then.
Zcash is a new currency and we can already see, that it’s losing some of it’s value, so it’s highly possible that I will switch back to ETH and XMR, or it’s possible that ETH + ZEC will be the most profitable, as I get nice hashrate for ZEC with my CPU.
